Donetsk community releases the 16th issue of the newspaper “Govorit Donbass”

Journalists and the public of Donetsk region continue to issue their own newsletter "Govorit Donbass" (Donbass speaks). In its latest 16th issue, readers can learn about alternative ways of creating the tribunal in the case of Malaysian Boeing, upcoming local elections, and many other topics.

Residents of Donetsk region are invited to join a 'School of monitors' to prevent electoral fraud, as well as learn about a success story of the city of Berdyansk. In addition, journalists entertain readers with failures of local MPs, as well as Russian combatant Babay and his earnings in the war in Donbass.

The newspaper focuses primarily on the part of the Donetsk region population, which receives information from traditional types of media – newspapers, radio, and television. It contains impartial information about the events in Donbass, useful tips, and helpful contact information. Reputable professional journalists, writers, and scholars of Donetsk region contribute to the preparation of newspaper materials.

According to Serhiy Tkachenko, Executive Director of Donetsk branch of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, a person is able to adapt to anything, including war. "Donetsk region gradually gets used to life with the anti-terrorist operation at hand and adapts to it by putting signs on trails that forcibly became highways through the fighting, harvesting cereals. Local authorities are also trying to live and work in spite of the war by creating logistics centres with ATMs and product fairs before the line of roadblocks and speaks about elections. However, we should not forget about human rights. Ukrainian legislation and international instruments provide for the right of choice. It is especially crucial after such shocks that the region survived in the past year and a half," Tkachenko said.

The newspaper circulates in 100,000 copies for this edition. The issue will be distributed by volunteers on the streets of Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Volnovakha, Dobropillia, Slavyansk, Druzhkivka, and Krasnoarmiysk. We invite local authorities, regional NGOs, party activists, and concerned citizens to assist with distribution of the newspaper and enhance a free information environment of Donbass region. Newspapers are available free at the Donetsk office of CVU in Kramatorsk at 45 Sotsialistychna St., room 308, Kramatorsk Hotel, tel. 096 885 98 31.
