Six best youth innovations of U-Inn 2.0 RELOAD to gain financing, mentoring support

Kyiv, September 24, 2019 – The six youth initiatives declared the best of the U-inn 2.0 Youth Innovations Program, which aims to promote innovative youth initiatives at the local level, are to receive financial and mentoring support for their implementation.

The six winners, announced on September 19-20, 2019, were selected out of 88 projects submitted that met the conditions and objectives of the U-inn 2.0 - promoting the integrity and inclusiveness of democratic processes, building effective cooperation with government, and involving citizens in decision-making.

A total of 97 teams took part in the competition, which attracted 293 young people from 19 regions of Ukraine.

"You believe in what you do, and you see a way to bring your ideas to life,” said  Oleksandr Yarema, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, congratulating the winners of the #UInn 2:0 Youth Innovations Contest.

“You are involved in youth politics and change-making. So, the best of luck with your projects!”

The winning teams, which came up with the most interesting ideas to promote integrity, inclusivity and human rights, are:

  • Integrity House (Zhytomyr) / Innovation for Integrity – to enable young Ukrainians to develop practical decision-making skills through online play.

 

  • Project of volunteer portal (Ternopil) / Innovation for Integrity – developing a good project design, a convenient and well-thought-out registration system for potential volunteers and organizers of events and activities.

 

  • Social House (Vinnytsia) / Innovation for inclusivity – a two-month program for the social adaptation of young people with disabilities; a space where 6-8 young people between the ages of 16 and 30 will cohabit with two mentors over the course of two months, trying to live independently and adapt to living without family / guardians.

 

  • Wings Online (Rivne Region) / Innovation for Inclusivity – The Wings Online Special Projects Festival is designed to promote the integration of creative young people with disabilities into the theatrical scene in the country; training and developing professionals to work with these young people; using the rehabilitation and restorative potential of the theatre arts.

 

  • ChanceON. Turn On Opportunity (Donetsk Oblast) / Innovation for Donbas – is a multi-format platform that collects and disseminates information about opportunities for the population of Donetsk Oblast, in the form of a website, a chat bot and a printed catalogue.

 

  • Board Game from the International Centre for Security Studies (Kyiv) / Human Rights Innovation – creating a simple, accessible and engaging game-based model for finding and discussing possible peaceful solutions to a conflict.

 

“Our mission is to create an innovative new space that will become a platform for discussing and solving socially important problems in the field of inclusion: employment, self-development, independence,” said Dana Yanova, a member of the team that won in the Innovation for Inclusion nomination.

Pitching and project selection were preceded by over 20 presentations of the U-inn 2.0 Youth Innovations Program in Ukrainian cities, attended by more than 600 participants, as well as two webinars that were viewed by almost 3,000 viewers, and the Youth Social Innovation Camp, which was attended by 80 participants from 15 oblasts.
