The conference, ‘The International Criminal Justice Cascade: From the ICC to the National Courts and Back' held on May 17, 2019, sought to answer difficult questions in the realm of human rights policy and justice for survivors.

Since joining OGP in 2011, Ukraine has successfully implemented three national action plans, which has led to breakthrough transformations in governance. And now, the Ukrainian Government and its civil society partners have started implementing the fourth action plan, adopted in December 2018.

On April 19, 2019, youth workers, civic activists and city authorities gathered in Youth Capital of Ukraine 2018, Kamyanets-Podilskyi, to discuss how to create favourable legislative environment for youth participation in Ukraine, and to exchange best youth work practices. 

40 representatives of state bodies and civil society organizations discussed the mechanism for assessing the destroyed civilian housing and creation of the state register at the round table, organized by DONBAS SOS and Ombudsman Ukraine.

The industrial city Zaporizhzhia has started on a path to make itself greener. Its city council allocated UAH 850,000 (USD 31,000) for the development of bicycle infrastructure in 2019. Then in April, the city’s Department of Infrastructure and Urban Facilities announced a tender for a concept on developing cycling infrastructure. A targeted advocacy campaign, organised by the NGO Spilno HUB with UNDP support, was behind this success.

Advocacy campaigns on CEDAW recommendations in three Ukrainian cities were presented at the event, which was organized by the Centre for Democracy Development in Kyiv.
