Advocacy campaigns on CEDAW recommendations in three Ukrainian cities were presented at the event, which was organized by the Centre for Democracy Development in Kyiv.
“Results of advocacy campaigns, led by CSO-coalitions in Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Smila cities of Ukraine demonstrate that the CEDAW concluding observations could be included into local policies, changing lives of local communities and empowering women”, stressed Marcus Brand.
“Because of our advocacy campaign, the Merezhka shelter for women who have suffered from domestic violence in Cherkasy received funding from the city council for renovations. Furthermore, Cherkasy Oblast Administration will support the women by providing social adaptation services,” shares Olena Stryzhak, one of the leaders of the coalition of NGOs in Cherkasy city.
The event took place on 27 March 2019. It was organized by the Centre for Democracy Development with UNDP support.
