How to find, engage and motivate volunteers to join activities of civil society organization?

On October 10, 2018 in Kyiv, 12 representatives from CSO-hubs learnt about volunteer management in the civil society organizations’ activities at the training, based on an adapted manual on volunteer management, developed by UNV and Ukrainian Volunteer Service with the UNDP support.

“Cooperation with volunteers should consist of 4 stages: informing, inclusion, active volunteering, and long-term as well. It is the long-term volunteering that allows opening up the potential of people and organizations”, says Anna Bondarenko, Head of the Ukrainian Volunteer Service.

Representatives of the CSO-hubs learnt the basics of volunteer management for the civil society organizations at the three-day training, financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The training was developed by UN Volunteers UA / Волонтери ООН in cooperation with the Ukrainian Volunteer Service.

“We are constantly working with volunteers, but I feel that I lack understanding on how to better organize cooperation with them. Therefore, I am here: to learn, and to apply gained knowledge in practice”, shares Dmytro Pronin from Voznesensk-based Agency for Economic Developmen.

“Before, I did not know which interesting opportunities could be offered to volunteers. And now I know of new ways of motivating volunteers”, adds Dana Yanova, communications specialist from Vinnytsia-based CSO Spring of Hope.
