"All about sanctions against Russia: is there a plan B for Ukraine?"

How to overcome impunity and human rights violations in the context of Russian aggression and the wider context, was is focus of today's meeting of human rights club with a theme "All about sanctions against Russia: is there a plan B for Ukraine?"

Personal sanctions are a political tool to curb impunity. Effectiveness of this tool depends on different factors.

- How does the international advocacy of human rights work. In particular, how are the Global Magnitsky Act and its analogues in 15 other countries compiled and applied;
- Why it is it crucial to have on hand an independent information from human rights defenders in order to introduce sanctions, and why is cooperation with civic organizations in other countries important;
- Why the joint efforts of public organizations and authorities is a game-changer for effective sanctions;
- How to approach sanctions in a strategic manner so that they really work and achieve containment.
